First of all, great program! However, I seem to have an issue adding some .exe files to XLaunchPad if they are in the C:\Windows\System32 folder. A few of the files I’d like to add but cannot are:
- Sound Recorder
- Snipping Tool
- Sticky Notes
- Windows Fax and Scan
They can be opened by clicking the shortcut in the Start Menu or on the executable itself. All the permissions are the same as other .exe’s that work. I’m using Windows 7 Enterprise x64 edition.

The weird thing is that if I try and add the files directly in XLaunchPad I don’t even see the executable! I have a screenshot showing the Windows Fax and Scan executable (WFS.exe) under System32, but the forground windows is XLaunchPad which doesn’t see it there.

Let me know if I'm doing something wrong, but this seems like a bug to me. Thanks for reading!

So I take it no one else has the problem, or at least doesn't care about it? I'm trying to put all the Windows Accessories shortcuts into a folder in XLaunchpad, but a third of them don't work. Important ones like Disk Defrag, etc. It'd just be nice to never have to use the Metro interface.

Just for fun I tried it in a Win8 Release Preview VM and had the same results.

Well, I figured out a work around to this issue, not that anyone cares. Instead of using a drive letter path (C:\Windows\System32\dfrgui.exe) you can use a UNC path (\\127.0.0.1\C$\Windows\System32\dfrgui.exe). This will cause a prompt to appear whenever you launch that program, but you can get around that by adding 127.0.0.1 to your Local Intranet zone in IE and changing the Launching applications and unsafe files setting to Enable for that zone. Pretty weird bug!
