Hi all, just downloaded the new Xwidget installer and after installing i got a Security warning by Zemana AntiLogger saying:

"Xwidget.exe has tried to add/modify code to one of your application and could have total access to your system. Do not continue unless you know this application.

Risk Level: High"


Whats going on? is this a false positive or what?

Of course is a false alarm kabott1..
Seems that the program is too sensitive. To not have false alarms add it to the exception list.
Install and use it without worries. Xwidget is 100% clean!

It is VERY sensible to risk aware especially as Xwidget installer previously bundled some malware in the older versions.

My suggestion is to install virustotal and to run it on any files that you download. It will check each for all the major a/v engines. Then you can see whether your chosen tool is flagging a F.P. or not. Most likely it is a F.P. and you need not worry.

NEVER EVER take anyone's word that some software is free of malware (not even Jim's). Find out yourself and if your tool says it is malware then test if further using the above method.

If you do experience a F.P. with your chosen engine then please report it to the engine's creators and get it removed from the list (get it whitelisted).

No slur on you Jim, I just suggest not taking ANYONE'S word these days not mine nor even a developer. Just test these things yourself and check on the net for any equivalent experience by others. Malware can creep in from any angle if you are too trusting. Remember Xwidget installers past? imagine if I'd been too trusting then...

I know I know and I agree with you...
But speaking for XWidget you know that is safe especially now that the installer is clean from the old malware.. We should encourage people to use the program and inform them that is completely safe to use.
The best thing to do is what you suggested, to inform any antivirus program that XWidget is clean and add it to their trusted software list.
