in my system it is "items.xml", not html; anyway,
i have tested it and it works for me, also it works by setting the path inside Xlaunchpad,
make sure: 1. you have typed the path correctly, 2. you have closed XlaunchPad before editing, and start it again after saving file

these options are available: 1. "\" will go to starting drive 2. ".\" will go to starting directory 3. "..\" will go up one level

some Examples:
you can use "\" to start from the root of the starting drive: example: <item path = "\! Portable \ Soft \ Sysinternals \ autoruns.exe" text = "autoruns" page = "2" />
if it doesn't working, then try "\" alone to see which drive will be loaded example: <item path = "\" text = "autoruns" page = "2" />
