On Windows 10 none of my Xwidgets are showing hints anymore. Various objects have hints enabled correctly and text assigned to the hints. However, recently the hints seem to have just stopped showing. Only noticed this when adding a hint to an object and noticing it by its absence from the running widget. This is happening to all my Xwidgets.

A reboot to the affected PC has had no effect, the hints are still not there.

I don't like hints very much but as the tooltip feature was removed from the last version of the Xwidget engine (Note to Tony: I'd like tooltips back please) then hints are the only remaining way to give the user information about an object when hovering over it.

Is there any way of enabling/disabling hints widget-wide? Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, tooltip was removed from the designer time ago. Tony said that he will activate it again on v2.0.
For the bug, as you can understand, it's the known situation about compatibility and the new platform win10.
The known shitty microsoft policy that with every new windows version, there is always something wrong with the programs compatibility and the devs should every time break their mind and b...s to find what changed...

For the tooltip, another way is to use the "Binding TooltipControl" .

I hear what you are saying. Strange thing is that hints were working just a little while ago. I swear I saw hints working correctly on Windows 10 when my laptop was new (only had it since before Christmas) they seem to have only stopped appearing recently.

So, to be absolutely certain. Are you saying, Jim, that hints aren't showing on your version of Win10 either ? ie. we both have problems?

Can anyone else confirm this is happening generally? I suppose I am wondering at what point was windows updated so as to prevent the hints from showing.

I'll test this on Win8.1.

I can only confirm that work ok on Win7 ulti x32 and Win8.1 prof x64. On Win8.1 there are some bugs using the designer though.
Fortunately I use only my laptop with Win7 to create widgets.
I removed the notification about Win10 update and I don't use it for such reasons. Because I don't want to have surprises...

My laptop came with Win10 and I perceived it as the enemy that I needed to get to know...

So far the experience has been poor in comparison to XP. Unstable like the old Win98 days. Reboot daily. Things just don't work. Feels like it is not based upon NT6.

Not quite sure how they managed to feck up win7 but they have.

I have a copy and I could do that... however I have only just come off XP. Not good always being behind the times.

Allowed the laptop to do a small update to Win10 - hints back again.
