On top of my request for the Xwidget core API to be documented and made accessible, the media player control core needs more functionality.

o It should support VLC as an alternative player.
o Regardless of chosen player - the core should have the ability to select and play a specific track immediately.
o The functionality to display the current play list via a populated array accessible through .js or a listbox.
o Drag and drop to add a music file to a control element in order to add to the play list using the mouse.

These elements may be available already through some combination of .js and GUI elements but I'll be bugled (sic) if I can find any useful documentation. IF anyone has any ideas for how to do the above then please provide the information. For the moment though the inadequate functionality for Xwidget has lured me back to the old Yahoo widget engine where this sort of interface is readily available. I'm going to create a better Konfabulator media player I'm guessing...

Yes, the player core needs work, some additions and optimization, maybe more than other cores..

Some Mods on other forums (ReactOS) do not like it when you add to an old thread - they call it 'necromancy'. So I am now in the habit of starting a new thread when an issue arises that is new to me. Hope that's OK.

I agree that the media player core needs more work, it is one for the main bit of 'candy' that Xwidgets provides. It ought to work as well as other engines at the very least. I wish Tony would release the code for a core and then we could work on it to provide the functionality we need. If a core is written in C or something similar (could be Pascal) then it is quite within our powers to work on a core to add the functionality we need.
