I realized that whenever I run my XWidget with 14 widgets, several programs are not able anymore to show their tooltips when moving the mouse over their toolbars.

These are some of the affected programs:
PSPad (text editor), FreeCommander XE (file manager), HxD (hex editor), CATraxx (catalog program), The Bat! (email), ImgBurn (image burner).

After some try and error I found out that "Keep Topmost" in the Config (Appearance) seems to cause that problem with those programs. I am using "Keep Topmost" only in one of my widgets (CPU usage shown on the tray). When I choose "TopMost" everything is fine and the tooltips are shown in the programs but whenever I choose "Keep Topmost" for one of my widgets, the above listed programs fail to show their tooltips.

It would be nice if this could be checked (and fixed).
Thanks in advance.

This is not an issue. The "Keep Topmost" option actually puts and keeps the widgets over ALL the pc's windows. So I don't think that this happens only for these programs. I don't know if Tony will change it in v2.0 but for now works like this and is normal.

Thanks for you fast reply, jimking.

To make it more clear: Only the above listed programs are affected (from those I have tested so far).

I tested about 20-25 different programs (Firefox, IE11, LibreOffice, Gimp, some other smaller or bigger utilities) on my PC and they are NOT affected: they show their tooltips (while "Keep Topmost" is enabled in XWidget), while others do not.

This confirmed my conclusion this cannot be a normal behaviour and is probably an issue caused by XWidget ("Keep Topmost").

Hmm... I see. So Tony should take a look for the next version.
Thanks for your report.

Thanks jimking. It would be great, if Tony could have look on it.

Here is another very good example from the Nirsoft's Utilies (http://www.nirsoft.net) *:

In this program the tooltips do not work:
ActiveX Compatibility Manager v1.00 (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/acm.html) [file size: 36 kb]

while in this program they are working properly:
ActiveXHelper v1.12 (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/axhelper.html) [file size: 40 kb]

I was comparing the names of their loaded DLLs and could not see any differences :?: (and both are 32-bit applications).
Anyway, maybe it's a good start to find out what causes the issue and if it can be reproduced/confirmed on other systems too.

(I have two different systems here with the same XWidget issue: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit / Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit)

----
* they do not require any installation and do not write anything to the registry.

When you select "Keep Topmost", XWidget constantly tries to keep the widget on top by setting its Z-Index
In windows there are various kinds of tooltips, old and new style (you might have noticed the difference in their appearance, one looks like old school XP). "keep Topmost" interferes with these types of tooltips. (and there is no way to fix this)

And try to clear the area above the system tray
