Version 1.9.62 has just been released, the first update in over two years, it fixes some artifacting bugs, adds a spectrum core, is supposedly a little more stable and has the necessary changes for planned future changes.
I am running it now and it does seem a little more stable. Other Xwidgets running on the screen no longer cause artifacting problems in the editor. I have not tested the new spectrum core as there is no documentation yet, I have requested it and I'm waiting for it now. I assume it works with the volume/media player core or perhaps it provides a visual analysis ability for any incoming variable data source. Currently, I have no more information regarding this new version. Other than this, the changes are very limited and the main differences are "under the hood" as Americans say.
Toiny is working on some major changes that will take Xwidget into the future, the start of those changes are being incorporated into Xwidget 1.9.62. Expect some more changes soon on the back of this.
I have been Xwidget's biggest critic in the past but I am very pleased to see some of the bugs I have raised being fixed and other fundamental issues being addressed. This is all the result of Tony working closely with JimKing (author and converter of over 4,000 Xwidgets). Jim has asked for my help to help highlight the future direction of Xwidgets and also the highlighting of critical bugs so that we can fix Xwidgets for serious work in the future. I am pushing for a formal buglist and documentation as well as actual fixes.
However, within this minor update, don't have great expectations, don't expect too much! Xwidget seems to be proceeding in the correct direction again but the changes in this new version are really quite small. They are welcome though!
