Hi,

just curious, is it possible to run Xwidget widgets on Windows Mobile 10 platform.
I am interesting in some Microsoft phone, so just want to know if I can run those widgets on Mobile OS.

Any experience ? Thanks

The Android OS uses .apk as installation files. I never had a windows phone so I don't know the kind of files that can run there. But as I can understand XWidget will not run

I know for Android and apk files. I was thinking of Xwidget for Windows if can be applied at Windows 10 Mobile?

Sincerely I don't think that Tony will do it. He has already a lot to do with the pc and android version and the development as you can see from the updates is slow already..

Sorry mate, I didn't ask or suggest anybody to do anything, that was not my intention. Just ask as information if somebody tried

When Windows Continuum comes into operation by default on Windows it should be able to have device-centric apps that adapt between the desktop space and the mobile space. This will be an imperative for Xwidgets in the near future and I have no doubt that Xwidgets will have this capability in a future version as it makes complete sense for these sort of apps to have this functionality.

It may need some hacking to conform with MS standards but hopefully it can be done.

Xwidgets on Windows Mobile may not be necessary. There is a good chance that Microsoft will package future phones on Android as Windows phone has failed to obtain more than 2% of the market. MS has hedged its bets buying Cyanogen and as a result there may well be a MS sponsored Android phone with a Microsoft tiles look and feel. That o/s would/should be able to run Xwidgets but whether it would fit into MS' methodology is another thing entirely.

However it might be the future for Windows Mobile.

Microsoft didn't buy Cyanogen, did they? I heard they wanted to but then backed out. I think all they did was fund them a bit.

Quite right. They 'chose' not to but instead they are in a partnership. It would be chicken feed for MS. Still, it implies MS is not keeping all its eggs in one basket.

Xwidget on Windows Mobile as an idea is dead in the water. Microsoft is slowly pulling the plug on Windows mobile. Intel have just pulled the plug on all mobile processor development, including the Atom. So, Windows is stuck on the desktop. In future all mobile devices will be ARM based, however no-one wants Windows RT (ARM) as it is really just a crippled version of Windows on low powered CPUs.

With the development of the Intel Atom stopped, the future for Windows is grim, there is no need for Continuum as there is only processor type, x86, to cater for. Continuum was for multiple devices and if there aren't multiple devices there is no Continuum. Windows...it will be a desktop O/S, ultimately Android will rule. IOS will stick there too as it is so perfectly honed for a certain market.
